Title: Vice President of Risk Management

Company: Taylor Morrison Home Corporation

1. TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT ROLE AND THE WORK YOU DO IN YOUR INDUSTRY.
I am currently the VP of Risk Management for Taylor Morrison. This encompasses guiding the team responsible for all safety programs, procuring all lines of commercial insurance and management of claims, surety, risk mitigation programs, etc.
2. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO JOIN THE FLORIDA CHAMBER LEADERSHIP CABINET ON SAFETY, HEALTH, AND SUSTAINABILITY?
We were inspired to join the Leadership Cabinet when we heard one of the goals of the organization was to make Florida the safest state to work in. We wanted to bring the voice of a developer and home builder help achieve that goal.
3. AS AN ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER, WHAT IMPACT DO YOU HOPE TO MAKE WITHIN THE LEADERSHIP CABINET?
My hope is that I can help the business community and residents understand how invaluable improving workplace safety is to the growth of Florida by assisting the Leadership Cabinet in the development of concrete plans of action and messaging.
4. WHY WOULD YOU ENCOURAGE OTHER FLORIDA BUSINESSES TO GET INVOLVED IN THE FLORIDA CHAMBER’S LEADERSHIP CABINET ON SAFETY, HEALTH AND SUSTAINABILITY OR PARTICIPATE IN COMMITTEE MEETINGS?
One of the biggest challenges in our industry is ensuring construction trades implement solid safety protocols for their employees and hold them accountable to meet the safety standards we put in place across all our job sites. To help in this messaging, we empower all our team members to stop any unsafe work practices they see on job sites and to ensure the trade members involved take immediate corrective action.
WHY WOULD YOU ENCOURAGE OTHER FLORIDA BUSINESSES TO GET INVOLVED IN THE FLORIDA CHAMBER’S [HEALTH COUNCIL/SAFETY COUNCIL/SUSTAINABILITY COUNCIL] OR PARTICIPATE IN COMMITTEE MEETINGS?
I would encourage other Florida business to become involved for the same reasons; to work toward continued improvement of workplace safety and contribute to the growth of Florida.
6. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK? ANY HOBBIES OR INTERESTS THAT MIGHT SURPRISE PEOPLE?
It may sound a little odd for a risk manager, but I like things that go fast and get the heart beating at a quicker pace, race cars, paragliding, etc. I try to incorporate heart racing adventures into vacations.
